Dr Rume obtained his PhD in A Study of Career Guidance for the Secondary Students in Nagaland from Nagaland University in 2014. Presently, he works at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kohima. His fields of research and expertise include vocational education, guidance and counselling. He further functions as a counselling psychologist and career counsellor.
Over the past twenty years of service, he has undertaken various projects and seminars, some of which include a state-level webinar on State Curriculum and Development (2022), seminars on school counselling for heads of various schools in Nagaland (2022), conferences on vocational skills for teachers, and sessions on stress management. Apart from his professional work, Dr Rume has given several All India Radio (AIR) interviews on topics such as Naga democracy, indigenous knowledge, and traditional and cultural values of the Nagas. He has also interviewed several school teachers at Sainik School Punglwa.
