Akumjung Pongen is currently pursuing his postgraduate studies in Philosophy and Theology at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. He holds an undergraduate degree in Philosophy from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. He studies and researches themes of metaphysics and epistemology as they concern topics in the philosophy of language and philosophical theology. He is interested in investigating how ontological, epistemological, and linguistic categories inform and shapes one’s considerations of the divine.

During his time as an undergraduate student at St. Stephen’s College, Akum was intimately involved with The St. Stephen’s North-East Society, an association that gave impetus to his studies into North-Eastern culture and literature. He first served as the Talks Coordinator and subsequently as the Vice-President thereof.

Outside of academia, Akum is passionate about music, having been trained as a classical pianist. He is also fond of cats.
