Intellectual Biography
Kadiguang Panmei is a researcher and musician studying the culture of northeast India and its people through various lenses, including culinary anthropology, migration, geopolitics, and the arts. During the academic year 2022-2023, he pursued his research as a Fulbright Scholar at UCLA's Herb Alpert School of Music, in the Department of Ethnomusicology. He has varied experiences in the academic sector and has conducted several research projects at universities and for NGOs. He has also worked in the music industry as an audio engineer, musician and producer with record studios and labels and currently produces music independently merging indigenous traditional music with modern electronic soundscapes. Kadiguang's passion for music and research motivates him to pursue his vision of preserving and reviving endangered oral traditions of northeast India through applied approaches involving archiving initiatives and community-based grassroots engagement.
