We warmly invite scholars conducting research in the eastern Himalayan region to submit papers for our Sixth Annual Hutton Lectures symposium, to be held on the 3rd and 4th of December at the Highland Institute, Nagaland. The papers should relate to one of the following disciplines: anthropology, folklore, heritage studies, history, religious studies, or sociology. We especially welcome scholars working on the social histories and legacy of the Second World War in the region to submit papers for this year’s lectures. Please submit abstracts or the full paper by the 15th of November.

We will announce the keynote speaker and special guests on 15th November, and release the programme shortly thereafter.

Held over two days, there will ample time for participants to visit our exhibitions and attend part of the Hornbill Festival that celebrates Nagaland’s many cultural practices. All presenters are also welcome to a conference dinner at the Highland Institute and a drinks reception. Archival exhibitions will be open to the public on the theme of the Second World War, in anticipation of next year’s 75 anniversary commemorations of the Battle of Kohima.
