Emerging Pedagogies in Environmental Humanities
2nd Ekologos Global Environmental Humanities Conference
Dates: 12–17 December 2024
Venue: RV University, Bengaluru
Hosts: School of Film, Media, and Creative Arts (RVU), The Highland Institute
Partners: IDRC, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, 100 Years Project, and others
The second Ekologos Conference expanded the conversation by spotlighting emerging pedagogies in environmental humanities. Sessions spanned literature, film, media, climate fiction, and visual anthropology, with notable contributions from filmmaker Maya Chandra, author Saptarshi Mallick, artist Shilpika Bordoloi, and scholars from UiT, University of Graz, and the Highland Institute’s Earthkeepers and MyCClimate teams.
Workshops and panels focused on embodied knowledge, smartphone ethnography, ethics of research, and community engagement through art and media. A student film showcase and the Ekologos Wiki initiative reflected the conference’s commitment to intergenerational and collaborative knowledge sharing.
The event also featured field visits, book launches, and intercultural exchanges—including a screening of Monarch of the Blue Mountain and the launch of The Travelogues and Letters of Lady Abala Bose.
