Dr Meera Baindur is a philosopher, educator, and researcher, currently an associate professor
of humanities and social sciences at the TM Pai Management Institute, Bengaluru Campus,
within the esteemed Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India. With a master’s
degree in psychology as her foundation, she pursued her passion further, earning a doctoral
degree in Philosophy with a focus on environmental humanities from Manipal Academy of
Higher Education through the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bangalore.

Her work delves into the intersections of environmental ethics, Indian philosophy, and
feminist thought. With a distinguished academic background, she has earned recognition for
her insightful contributions to the discourse on sustainability, biodiversity, and cultural
perspectives on nature. She is the Co-Coordinator of the Manipal Centre for Design with
Environment through Education, Planning & Advocacy (DWEEPA).

Her scholarly pursuits extend beyond academia, as she actively engages with various
international bodies, including the Consortium of Environmental Philosophers. Additionally,
Dr Baindur contributes her expertise as an Ethics expert at Globethics.net and is the India
delegate and coach for the International Philosophy Olympiad.

Dr Meera Baindur actively participates in public dialogues on environmental issues,
advocating for ethical approaches to environmental conservation and social justice. Her
holistic perspective, informed by Western and Eastern philosophical traditions, enriches
contemporary debates on ecological stewardship and the moral responsibilities towards future generations.
